The forum is very broken

horus Member	Nothing to do with PN2. This forum is currently very broken. Just to name a few: * I had replied another post but my reply never appeared * I had created a new post as a “reply” but that didn’t appear either * The search function is not working

simon Key Master	Yeah, sorry. I’m really annoyed but there’s no easy way to fix it. The last bbPress update was a total disaster, and I haven’t worked out a good way to fix it. Moving forwards or backwards versions is just too much hassle. At this point, I want to use something else but I need a solution that doesn’t take hours of my life up just to do administration (whether it’s handling upgrades, or managing spam).

horus Member	Since the forum is so broken, how about setting up a totally new forum using another software (eg BBS)? And leave the current one as “archive” (and tell people to search inside it for old messages…. if the search function works…..)

simon Key Master	I’m looking at it, but haven’t found something that meets my “keep it simple” requirement yet. I’m very interested in Discourse (http://www.discourse.org/) but it’s very new, and I couldn’t run it on the VM that hosts these forums – it’s too resource hungry. When they provide a hosted version that would be a good solution – I’m tempted to offload all the hosting for pnotepad to lower time-cost solutions.

simon Key Master	Vanilla (http://vanillaforums.org/) is a possible solution, and looks to have an importer for bbPress so if I get some time I might look at that.

horus Member	I think in users perspective, we don’t really care what is used as long as it is working :) What VM technology are you using “behind the scene”? VMware’s technology? Or Microsoft? I’m using VMware software and might be able to do some simple tests if you need.

horus Member	In another thread, after I’ve sent a reply again, I got this message: ERROR: Duplicate reply detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that! Well, it is true that I had sent the same reply. But the problem is the first reply was never shown!

horus Member	I just want to say: I cannot reply! The forum always says it found duplicate. Simon, please disable this stupid function temporarily. It’s causing more harm than good.
