Some content types default to utf-8, while others default to an 8-bit encoding. It would be practical if it was possible to specify on a per filetype-basis, which encoding to default to.
A distinction between different types of 8-bit charsets would be a nice addition. In particular, to be able to choose between iso-8859-1 and windows-1252 would be very useful.

i need codepage conversion because the peoples, i talk with, use ones codepages.
i know about modern trend on linux/unix platforms migrate to UTF8 from native codepages. but instear of solve problems of native lang codepages, UTF is complicate ones because the reader of a text cant recognise the wright locator of the writer by contens of text, this is still provides by user. so UTF nothing solves.
another reason - my mail ordinary writes in thouse codepages, and rare use UTF.

Nothing to add to 1 and 2, but why do you need to convert between codepage? We're in the 21st century and UTF-8/16 should cover your needs :]

Hallow developers! I have used the PN2. i like it, thancks a lot. previously i used Aditor. here is the features that was in Aditor and i like to use in PN2:
1) autosave an backup of original edited file: it can be saved in current, or temp or recycled directories.
2) autosave an edited file at defined time delay (i used 10 minutes)
3) converts an text from one codepage to another - i frequently used to conerts between DOS CP866 , Win CP1251, KIO8-R, ISO Cirilyc

ISO-8859-2 (Lucas)

I've set up a little page showing those ISO-8859-2 characters.
Here is it's address:
http://opusculus.frycz.com/iso.html

The language used is Polish and those characters are included in a couple of font-sets with the CE (Central Europe) ending.

There are two code pages that are being used in Poland - ISO-8859-2 (in most of the web pages) and Windows-1250 (in software - mainly Windows and such).
Programmers Notepad shows correctly the Windows-1250 codepage, but, if I want to work on something that is going to be published on the web, I need to view the character as they would looke like in the ISO code page.

I think PN is a great piece of software, much better than most of editors I've used and I would be very happy with the ISO-8859-2 code page included.

Also, if there is some localization project going, I can hepl to translate the user interface.

Regards
Lucas

Hi lucas, can you point me at a sample file anywhere that I can experiment with? Also, is there a particular language that this code page is for that I can use in options?

Is there any way to change default code page to ISO-8859-2?
I need it in my works and it would be great to have this feature in PN
