Hi,

I don't have an up-to-date reference list, but you can see and edit most of them in Options->Keyboard.

Hope that helps!

My fat fingers just caused me to stumble across the "ctrl + [" keyboard shortcut. I decided to check out pnotepad.org/docs/navigation/keyboard_shortcuts to see what other shortcuts I didn't know about, but it wasn't listed so I presume the list is a little out of date.

Anyone got an up-to-date list of all the available keyboard shortcuts?

Love
Bon

I'm seeing the same problem with text files that contain german umlauts as well. As far as I can tell, PN does not recognize the ISO encodings any longer. German Umlauts are displayed as "inverted hex" symbols with files that are saved with ISO-8859-1 encoding

The "Code Page" dropdown in Tools -> Options -> Defaults does not contain any ISO encoding. Only UTF and other multi-byte encodings. There is no single-byte encoding in there.

This is bug 48:

http://code.google.com/p/pnotepad/issues/detail?id=48

I'm not yet sure what caused this to break between 2.0.8 and 2.0.9 but I have a couple of theories which I'm trying out for the next testing build. Can you please confirm the full version number of the build you're currently using?

Polish "programmers" keyboard (with diacritic letters [ąćęłóśńźż] obtained with right ALT key) does not function properly. I use Windows XP and the newest developer's version of PN. The previous stable version of PN works fine!

Already in the current development builds, there's no keyboard shortcut by default yet but you can set one in the options dialog.

It depends on the scheme you're using as to whether comments support has been added yet. If it's not working in your language then please edit the scheme file and send me the changes for inclusion in the future release. Look at the cpp scheme for examples, ask if you need more details.

Hi, just started using pnotepad, and it's pretty much revolutionizing how I edit files in windows.

Just one thing though: it would be really helpful if it were possible to comment out a line (or a selection of lines) using a keyboard shortcut. Is there such a feature in the works?

I put up a simple patch on the tracker, #1706311. This is my first attempt, so apologies if I got it wrong.

Any feedback is appreciated. And here, pasted straight from tracker:
------------------------

Some items on the View menu did not have keyboard shortcuts (underlined letters). Shortcuts were added for the missing items, no existing shortcuts were modified.

The following were added:
-Line &End Markers
-Line &Numbers
-&Mark WhiteSpace
-Syntax &Highlighting
-Word W&rap
-&Folding (...)
-&Individual Output

Apologies if the patch is not up to par, this is my first attempt.

NOTES:
A few (mark whitespace, folding, etc) already worked since they are the only items that start with a certain letter, but were not defined. Adding the shortcut makes it clear what key press will do what.

Also, right now B = "Toggle &Bookmark" and O = "Next B&ookmark", but O also = "&Output". I'd recommend changing it to "&Next Bookmark" to avoid conflict with O, and then use "Line N&umbers" to avoid conflict on N.

I use the keyboard almost extensively, especially in a text editor. I'd love it if every item on the menus had a keyboard shortcut, even if it were not obvious.

For example, on the View menu there's the "Windows" submenu that has the "W" shortcut, so you can press Alt+V+W to get the Windows menu. But there's also "Word Wrap" which has no shortcut, so you must use the arrow keys and search for the word wrap option. I know you can bind custom keyboard shortcuts, but it's also useful to be able to use Alt+ combinations for lesser used options (Alt+F+S Save, Alt+F+A save As, Alt+F+L save aLl, etc).

Basically, every item in a menu should have an underlined letter, even if it's a randomly chosen letter (and not an obvious one like "S" for Save).

Potential problems; if menu items are added later, the assignments might have to be shuffled around. If users are used to the arrangement, this will be annoying and confusing. Also, it may interfere with custom keyboard bindings (though arguably those should not be using Alt+ combinations anyway). Any thoughts? I wouldn't mind doing this, but I wanted to get feedback before attempting it.

I installed that and the shortcuts can now be removed. Thank you for that. I found that none of the Comment functions are working though!

When I select some lines in a PHP document and apply one of the functions in Edit>Comments (without using shortcut keys), nothing happens to the selected text.

This is true for versions .610 and .647 that I had/have installed now.

In the 2.0.7.610 version that I am currently using, I can't remove any keyboard shortcuts. The Remove button stays greyed out when I select one of the Current Shortcuts of a Command.

I tried to set the Edit.Commands Line command to '/' (slash), like PHPEdit 2.8.0 where you can select code and comment it out by pressing /. Now I cannot unset the shortcut and the slash key doesn't work anymore in PN2 (doesn't print a /).

Am I doing something wrong or should I report this as a bug on SF?

Too bad I can't edit keymap.dat manually...
