Hi there

I'm currently using PN ver 2.0.8.718 and all seems to work great.
I tried to switch to the last release of PN 2.0.10 but the output parser is no more able
to locate the file

any suggestion?

PS: my output is standard gcc and i'm using the built-in parser

I made this simple tool to sort lines:
Command: %(CYGWIN_ROOT)\bin\perl.exe
Parameters: -we 'print sort <STDIN>'
Pass my selection to this tool using Standard Input = true
Capture Output? = Replace my selection.

It partly works, but gobbles some (or all) of the lines. I've played around with different ways of doing it in Perl, all with the same result. The Perl works as it should when run from a Cygwin shell.

Has anyone seen anything like this before, or can offer a solution? Do you think it's a PN bug, or have I done something silly?

Hi!

I've been using PN2 for a while and I'm really into it. I'm using a dual screen setup and I would like to keep the output window on the other screen to maximize the code space. The problem comes when I use tools (eg. WinAVR make command), the output window (which is undocked on the other screen) docks immediately back as docked in main window.

Is it a bug or a feature? Is there any way to get that output window to stay undocked when I use the tools?

Cheers!

How to modify Output pane's scheme (mohaqeq)

Hi,

I also wanted to add my appreciation of this software, which I've recently started using. My issue is with the color scheme for the Output pane. I was modifying the style colors for various schemes, e.g. Tools->Options->Schemes->Advanced->Scheme:Latex and then change the color choices under Styles->Math,Tag,etc. Then I noticed that inadvertently I'd also changed the back/fore-ground colors in the Output pane, so that now both colors are very dark and I can't read the foreground text in the Output pane (unless I highlight it so that it changes colors and becomes legible).

I've tried changing the Output color scheme by going to Scheme:Output and changing all the colors under Styles, to no avail; the Output pane still shows the same dark fore- and back-grounds. If these menus are not working well, which customization file can I edit by hand to correct this? BTW, I assume that I don't need to close & reopen the software each time I change some color scheme.

Thanx for suggestions.

Hi!

I got a non standard compiler output, which I want to parse in the output window. The compiler throws errors like:

"abc.c", line 67: Serious error: expected ';' after command - inserted before '}'

where I constructed the parse string

"%f", line %l

in order to get this string parsed. If I check the parsed string in the settings window, it seems to me, as if the parsing itself is working, but when I make a double click on the highlighted line in the output window, I got the following error in the status bar: 'Could not locate abc.c. if the file exists, see help under "Output" to fix this'

I created the project using the 'Magic Folder' function (but also added an erroneous file the standard way, but this did not remove the error). The layout of the project is the following:

\prjname\environment : Here are the PN's project files
\prjname\src : Here are the source code files in different sub directories
\prjname\make : Here are batch files with compiler/linker calls

The root of the project (in the project window)is set to: prjname
In the settings dialog of the project tool function, I set the working directory to: c:\prjname\make
and the execution command to: c:\prjname\make\make.bat

Can someone help me to fix this error, because I think that this editor is cool and it exactly fits the needs I have for editing my project.

Thanks in advance!

Hi!

Thanks for an quite excellent IDE for embedded C/C++ programming.

Have a problem though, with the output parser, or more, a misbehaviour from PN when clicking on a compiler error.
If the file I am compiling is already open for editing in PN, and I click on a compiler error in the output window, PN opens a new instance of the already opened file.

Is this a known issue or? I've scrolled through the topics in this discussion-group and also looked in the BUG database, and have not seen anything on this.

Is it worth a fix?

Thanks
Output Pane Enhancements/Questions (dandersahn)

I use the output pane a lot with custom tools and have a few things I would love to be able to change. Perhaps some of these can be done already. If anyone knows how to do any, I would appreciate the knowledge:

1) Is there any way to make activation of "links" in the output pane double click instead of single click? I often want to select text from the output pane and not necessarily jump to the location in the document it refers to.

2) Can I get rid of the underline on mouse over? It bothers me (no rational reason) and if the cursor exits the output pane without moving over "non-link" text, the underline doesn't go away. For example if the first line in the output is a link, that line will remain underlined when the mouse pointer is moved vertically out of the output pane.

3) I would love to see the "resize grip area" for the output pane taller(I'm referring specifically to the standard, not individual, output pane). It's painful to try to resize it. It usually takes me a few very slow moving passes to actually "grab" the resize point. Alternatively, if there was a way to resize the output pane via Python script, that would be great as well.

4) I would like to see a way through the UI to change the output pane font. I'm guessing it can be done by messing with the configuration files.

I'm using PN2 to edit for Franklin C compiler (in the old days Keil sold it in USA under that name). I would like to post this to help others wanting to do the same.
The outputs from the compiler are:
*** WARNING 206 IN LINE 75 OF PCF8574.C: 'i2cstop': missing function-prototype
*** ERROR 141 IN LINE 81 OF PCF8574.C: syntax error near 'return'
I needed two parsing strings for these two differnt errors for the first line:
IN LINE %l OF %f: '
for the second line:
IN LINE %l OF %f:
In the end I created two tools with different parsing strings. If I cannot get a link
I recompile with the second tool.

Hey everyone.
First off, great job with PN2. I just started using it last month, and i've used it on a database project, it was incredibly useful.
Now, i must be really lamme with this things, cause i just can't ge IE to launch and see the output of the file im working on.
I created a tool. I defined the command as the IE executable and the parameters as http://localhost/%f, as i saw in one post in this forum. As is run it, the output window pops, the command line says its executed but IE doesnt get to open.
Any hints here?

Hello everybody,

I've a question regarding the output windows. I made a little scheme for a scripting language used by a game (the game itself didn't provide any good editor tool, so I made a little scheme for the sake of easy editing and reading). Now, how the code is "compiled" (I know it isn't real compiling to machinecode, but so it is described by them), is by providing the parser (an exe) the right parameters. So far no problem. Now, I wish to get the result of the parser in the main output window (otherwise you don't know wheter it parsed good or with errors). Problem is that I don't know how to get that output. I know that the parser produces a "results.txt" file in its directory with all the things it did and what the final result was. Now, the question is, how do I get that file's contents? Just reading that file is enough. If I may add: the parser is closed source, so except for the results.txt file I can't add any other means to get the results.

Even a batch file is good for me (first execute the parser then read the file, finally return it to PN) but I do not know how I return the data to the output window (or PN for that matter). Is this idea (or any other suggestion) doable? If yes, how do I do it?

Sorry if this question is too dumb, but from what I could find, I didn't see anything usefull.

Thank you already for reading this far.

I would like to remove the underline effect on mouseover of the text especially because it shows for all lines, not just those that actually link to a file. I'd also like to change the single click activation of a hotspot to double click. I've tried editing the misc.scheme file, but there seems to be no way to change the hotspot behavior without disabling it completely.

I've done some testes, but can't click on the error at all. Probably due to that PN thinks it's a comment. Heres is a example of the out:
